Each bottom stair section consists of 7 steps. Each top stair section consists of 6 steps.

The bottom step of each 7-step stair section is positioned directly underneath the floor above, allowing for more floor area above.

All finished ceiling heights are 8′ 0″. The building code in this municipality requires 6′ 8″ of headroom above stairs.
